Week #3 Jesus in the Desert

Last week we talked about how it's not always easy to do the right thing. We looked at a story of Jesus being tempted in the desert by Satan. Jesus had the power to withstand that temptation and show his obedience to God. The cool thing is that he has given us that power too!

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Week #2 Jesus on the Mountain

Last week we looked at how the 'American Dream' promises prosperity and happiness, but chasing this can lead us down an empty road. Jesus gives a sermon on how to find the deepest form of happiness and what it means to be truly blessed.

DON'T MISS THE LAST BEACH WEDNESDAY!

Next Wednesday, July 22nd is our last 'Beach Wednesday' of the year.

That means we are bringing out all of the stops: kite flying, sand castle building contest, boogie boarding, surfing, and a scavenger hunt. Could there be anything better than all that? Actually, end the day off with s'mores and you have the Best Beach Wednesday EVER!!

Current Sunday Morning Series

Summer is a great time for a road trip, so Riptide will be road trippin' through the book of Matthew. We will be following the travels of Jesus and and look at how his teachings apply to our everyday life. We are even taking part of the teaching times to the road. Instead of the just telling about Jesus on the lake,at the garden, or in the dessert, we will be filming the teaching of these story at various locations and then showing them on Sunday Morning. Each week, we will link to the video shown the previous Sunday.

It will definitely be a fun summer adventure and your middle schooler will not want to miss it!

July 5: Jesus at the Lake- Matthew 14:22-33

July 12: Jesus on a Mountain- Matthew 5:1-11

July 19: Jesus in the Desert- Matthew 4:1-11

July 26: Jesus in the Garden- Matthew 26:36-46

Beach Wednesdays Are Back!

For the next three weeks, (July 8, 15, & 22) Riptide will be heading down to South Mission to hang out at the beach. We would love to have you so check out the details below and download a Beach Trip Permission Slip from the "Downloads" box in the right hand column.

Important Details:
1. You MUST sign up the Sunday before or email Christina by Monday so we can make sure we have a ride for you.
2. Bring a lunch or $3 for a BBQ lunch we make there.
3. Bring a towel and modest bathing suit.
