Summer Camp '09 in Review

Summer Camp at Thousand Pines Christian Camp was FANTASTIC this year! The speaker challenged us to take steps of faith in our relationship with Jesus. The band helped us connect in worship and our team came in first place making us Recreation Champions! It truly was an amazing life-changing week!

Be sure to mark your calendar for winter camp coming up January 8th-10th!

Church Wide Baptism This Sunday!

Sunday, June 14th Journey Community Church will be having a Church-Wide Baptism. It will be held at Crown Point Mission Bay at 2:00pm to 4:00pm. If you have a middle schooler that is ready to be baptized this would be a great opportunity. I can meet with them briefly to talk about what baptism is, the awesome decision they are making, and what to expect and bring that day.

If you do not have anyone in your family that is getting baptized, this is still a great opportunity to come hang out while supporting those who are taking this exciting step in their Christian walk. There will be hamburgers, hotdogs, and drinks. All you have to do is come and bring a side dish or dessert to share.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at christina@journeycom.org or check out the Journey Community Church website here.

This is definitely a day you and your family will not want to miss!

Current Sunday Morning Series

This Sunday, Riptide joined the rest of the ministries at Journey Community Church by kicking off a new series, "God at the Movies." We will be featuring Middle School friendly movies and below is a list of our feature presentations. We are so excited about the next five weeks and looking forward to spotting God in some unlikely places.

Family Idea: All of the movies are out on DVD so have a fun family movie night. Pick one night during the few weeks and watch a movie before or after we speak on them. We will have discussion questions available about the movie and message in the back of the room if you would like. (Or email christina@journeycom.org for a copy.)

May 31: Bedtime Stories
June 7: Horton Hears a Who
June 14:Mall Cop
June 21: Wall-E
June 28: Kung Fu Panda

Fashion + Modesty = Suddenly Darling

This website was introduced to me today and I found it to not only be an incredible fashion resource, but an awesome example of two teenage girls taking on the issue of modesty.

Katelyn Rose, the local 16 year old that started this website says, "Often times, while on my quest to find the perfect ensemble, I can't help but acknowledge the trend that many teen girls fall into by dressing inappropriately and wearing what the media tells them to. I believe wholeheartedly that it's possible to dress with style and confidence while maintaining self respect and modesty."

Suddenlydarling.com is a web-based community that provides fashion tips, celebrity pictures, and even an online store where you can purchase the items.

Definitely worth checking out!
